Hope4Gaston helped with the relief efforts for our friends in Marion, North Carolina by packing 1000 bags for food delivery and sorted and palletized 6000 diapers along with 275 boxes of baby wipes.
We then moved farther west to the outer parts of Black Mountain to the Straight A Way Cafe, which is a community relief center deep in the mountains. Thanks to our good friend, Gerald Duncan and his staff at Hillbillies BBQ, we were able to provide meals to the people of this area.
The goodness of humanity is often understood through the lens of being created in the image of God (Imago Dei). According to Genesis 1:27, humans were made in God’s image, reflecting His love, creativity, and moral goodness. This belief suggests that, despite human imperfections, there is inherent dignity and value in every person. As followers of Jesus, we believe that the goodness of humanity stems from this divine origin, meaning that everyone has the potential for goodness because we carry a reflection of God’s character within us. The goodness of humanity, from this perspective, is not simply about moral actions but a reflection of God’s presence in the world. Acts of kindness, compassion, and justice are seen as expressions of God’s love working through His followers. As believers we seek to follow the example of Christ, we aim to bring out the inherent goodness in ourselves and others by living in love, serving our neighbors, and promoting peace. Through faith, Jesus followers trust that God’s grace enables us to overcome our flawed nature and reveal the goodness that has been placed in humanity from the beginning.
Leading a cooperative effort of churches, local government and businesses to create a community of people who through the giving and receiving of assistance will be inspired to “love your neighbor as yourself”.
Offering hope and assistance to people in crisis within our community.
